5 self care ideas to try this Easter

Easter is a holiday that reunites family and friends. We often enjoy meal with our loved ones, exchange gifts, and sometimes, we even attend church services. But amidst all the activities and responsibilities, we tend to forget the importance of taking care of ourselves.

Body-mind centering techniques are one way to take care of yourself. With the stress and the fast-paced lifestyles that many of us lead, it’s important to practice self care and to relax.

Relax with an at-home spa day.  Splurge on some quality skin care products, paint your nails, and enjoy the feeling of being pampered.  You deserve it!  (And if you’re looking for luxury-quality soaps, we recommend our Soap Collection)

Take a nap

The nap is a great self-care activity. But, it’s important to make sure you don’t accidentally ruin your sleep schedule and inadvertently make yourself more tired than before you took a nap. Here are some pointers for making sure your nap is as productive as possible:

  • Set an alarm.
  • Don’t nap too close to bedtime!
  • Don’t be afraid of napping if you have trouble falling asleep at night.

Sit outside and relax in the sun

With the weather being so nice, it's only natural that you'll want to spend some time outside. Sit in your backyard or a nearby park and relax. Take a stroll through your neighborhood and enjoy the sights. Just don't forget your sunscreen! Although sun is good for you in moderation, overexposure can lead to severe burns, which can cause serious health risks later in life. Plus, sunburns are just plain painful. So stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and iced tea as you soak up some rays - keep a bottle with you at all times! And don't forget to apply goat's milk lotion for added protection in your skin. You can bring along a book to read while you relax outside in the sun.

Read a good book and ignore social media

  • Read a good book and ignore social media. Yes, really! I know it can be difficult to put down your phone or turn off your computer, but you owe it to yourself to take a break from social media. It’s not going anywhere and the world will still be there when you get back. So pick up a book, find a comfortable place on your couch or in the sun, and soak up some knowledge. Forget about social media for an hour or two — focus on what is important: You! This is a great way to relax and unwind while learning something new.

Light some candles and try essential oils like lavender.

Lighting some candles and enjoying the calming scent of lavender is a great way to take care of yourself. If you don't have candles, try using essential oils instead: There's nothing like a whiff of lavender to make you feel relaxed and to level up your experience prepare a warm bah and  drop a lavender bath bomb and put some lavender body butter . You can also use eucalyptus or mint if you enjoy their scent and want to clear your airways. If scents aren't your thing, listening to calming music is another great way to relax.
